Battle of the Idle, 616

Battle at a crossing of the River Idle in South Yorkshire between Raedwald, overlord of the southern English and Aethelfrith, king of Northumberland, who was killed in the battle. Raedwald installed Edwin of Deira as the first Christian king of Northumberland.
