Siege of Kenilworth, June-December 1266

The final act of the second barons war. After their defeat at Evesham, some of the remaining supporters of Simon de Montfort retreated to the Montfort castle at Kenilworth, where they were able to hold out for six months, before eventually surrendering. Attempts to attack the castle failed, and the surrender came about after disease took hold in the castle
