M4 37mm gun motor carriage

The M4 37mm gun motor carriage was the original designation for the M6 37mm gun motor carriage (Fargo). This was a 37mm anti-tank gun mounted on the back of a ¾ ton weapons carrier and was developed as the T21. It was authorized as the M4, but there was already an M4 47mm gun carriage for the towed M3 37mm gun and so the M4 37mm GMC was redesignated as the M6 37mm GMC.
