T44 57mm Gun Motor Carriage

The T44 57mm Gun Motor Carriage was a design for a simple tank destroyer armed with the British 6pdr anti-tank gun. This gun was produced in the United States as the M1 57mm anti-tank gun. The T44 was built around a Ford 1/2 ton truck, with the rear superstructure removed. The gun was mounted at the rear of the vehicle, with the gun shield level with the rear wheels and the gun firing backwards. The project was cancelled in 1942 after the Tank Destroyer force decided not to use the 57mm gun.
