Soviet North Caucasus Front begins Novorossiisk-Taman offensive against last German toe-hold in the Caucasus.
Eighth Air Force Heavy Bomber Mission No. 94: 87 aircraft sent to attack industrial targets at Paris and Beaumont-sur-Oise airfield, 63 to attack Beauvais/ Tille airfield, 37 to attack Lille/ Nord airfield, 56 to Lille/ Vendeville, 38 to St. Omer/ Longuenesse and St. Omer/ Ft. Rouge, 50 to Abbeville/ Drucat and 56 to Vitry-en-Artois. Of 377 aircraft sent out, only two are lost.
