Lockheed P-38 Lightning

Aircraft - Combat Record - Books

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning was one of the most distinctive aircraft of the Second World War, and a very fine fighter aircraft. In the middle years of the war it was the best long range fighter available to the USAAF. Although it had been largely replaced in Europe by the end of the war, it remained a key Allied fighter over the Pacific until VJ day.
