FM-2 Wildcat on USS Anzio (CVE-57)
Here we see a FM-2 Wildcat being guided across the flight deck of the Casablanca class escort carrier USS Anzio (CVE-57) on 20 May 1945. Note the drop tanks clearly visible under the wings of the fighter, which is moving with its wings folded. On the following day the carrier began a period of anti-submarine warfare duties off Okinawa.
