Spar Deck of USS Chicago (1885)
Here we see the view along the spar deck of the protected cruiser USS Chicago (1885) looking forward from the stern. From this angle she very much resembles a classic warship of the age of sail, despite being one of the first four ships in the new US 'Steel Navy' of the 1880s.
