USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) passing USS Ranger (CVA-61), 1965
Here we see the Midway class aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea (CVA-43) passing the Forrestal class supercarrier USS Ranger (CVA-61) in the South China Sea on 24 March 1965. On the Ranger we see a mix of aircraft. Nearest to the camera is a North American RA-5C Vigilante reconnaissance aircraft. Next are five McDonnell Douglas F-4B Phantoms. In the background is a group of Douglas A-1 Skyraiders. This picture was taken during the Coral Sea's first tour of duty off Vietnam
