Grumman F6F Hellcat lands on USS Cowpens (CVL-25)
Here we see a Grumman F6F Hellcat landing on the Independence class carrier USS Cowpens (CLV-25) in November 1943. The aircraft's tail hook has only just caught the arrestor wire and the tail is still in the air.
