Here we see the forward main 6in guns of the Cleveland class light cruiser USS Denver (CL-58) firing. The picture has been signed by Captain Robert B. Carney, her commanding officer between 15 October 1942 and July 1943, when he was promoted to Rear Admiral and became Chief of Staff to Admiral Halsey.

Nicely organised, with the wartime service records separated out from the main text, so that the design history of the light cruisers flows nicely.
