Here we see the Gleaves class destroyer USS Ellyson (DD-454) refueling from the escort carrier USS Santee (CVE-29) at sea during Operation Torch. The picture was taken from the larger carrier USS Ranger (CVE-29). The escort carrier isn't much larger than the Ellyson, but still rather looms over her.
