Here we see the Virginia class battleship USS Georgia (BB-15) with her rails lined, c.1912. The frame on her aft guns is part of a mechanical dotter, training gear that was used to simulate the movement of the in rough seas while she was anchored or in smooth seas, to allow gun crews to prepare for rough weather in all conditions.
