USS Kentucky (BB-6) from the right, before 1909
Here we see the Kearsarge class battleship USS Kentucky (BB-6) from the right, before the 1909 refit in which her military masts were replaced with cage masts. We get a good view of the layout of her armament, which was fairly typical of the period apart from the position of her twin 8in gun turrets directly on top of her main 13in guns. Her 5in guns are in casemates along the side, with the smaller 57mm guns on the open deck above.
