USS Langley (CVL-27) shoots down Japanese aircraft, Formosa, 1944
Here we see the deck crew taking shelter as the Independence class light fleet carrier USS Langley (CVL-27) shot down a Japanese aircraft during an attack on Task Force 38 off Formosa on 14 October 1944. The Japanese aircraft can be seen almost in the centre of the picture, heading towards the sea.
