USS Massachusetts (BB-2) at Marseille, 1910
Here we see the Indiana class battleship USS Massachusetts (BB-2) at Marseille in July 1910. These battleships were designed for coastal defence, and their low freeboard meant they weren't well suited to operating in heavy Atlantic weather, so the crossing may have been rather wet! This picture shows here with the cage mast that had been added earlier in 1910.
