Here we see the view looking forward in the dynamo room of the protected cruiser USS Olympia (C-6), with steam engines on the left and the dynamos on the right. The distinctive shape of the wound wires of the electro magnets can be seen towards the bottom right. The picture was taken soon after she had returned to the US after serving as Admiral Dewey's flagship at the battle of Manila Bay of 1898
