Here we see the Essex class carrier USS Oriskany (CV-34) at Sasebo on 27 October 1953, with a deck full of several types of aircraft.
Nearest to the camera are eleven prop driven AD Skyraiders.
Between them and the island we have straight winged Grumman F9F-5 Panthers on either side, with three swept wing Grumman F9F-6 Cougars in the gap.
Behind the island is a row of more F9F-6 Cougars. Facing them on the right of the flight deck is a row of F2H-3 or F2H-4 Banshees, with more Banshees behind the Cougars on the left.
Finally more AD Skyraiders are at the rear of the deck.
