USS Rhode Island (BB-17) with mixed masts, 1909
Here we see the Virginia class battleship USS Rhode Island (BB-17) at the New York Navy Yard on 8 July 1909 with one cage mast and one military mast. The military main mast would soon be replaced with a second cage mast.
