Amidships Gun Deck, USS San Francisco (C-5), 1890
Here we see the amidships section of the gun deck on the protected cruiser USS San Francisco (C-5). This deck has protection along the sides, which is what you see in side views, but also a mainly open roof with various partial decks and platforms above.
