Decommissioned USS San Francisco (C-5) at Norfolk Naval Yard, 1905
Here we see the decommisioned protected cruiser USS San Francisco (C-5) in the Norfolk Navy Yard in 1905. In 1908 it was decided to convert her into a minelayer and she went on to serve in that role during the First World War.
