Amidships section of USS Virginia (BB-13), 1919
Here we see the amidships section of the Virginia Class battleship USS Virginia (BB-13) at Boston on 5 July 1919, carrying troops who were returning from Europe. The sailors in white stand out from the soldiers in their darker uniforms. In the centre of the picture is one of the twin 8in turrets placed amidships.
