Here we see the after deck of the North Carolina class battleship USS Washington (BB-56) at the New York Navy Yard on 18 August 1942, showing two new 1.1in anti-aircraft guns and their directors that have been added
right at the stern. Note that the roof of her main turret is large enough to be used as a work space!
