Bow view of HMS Ravager (BACV-24)

Here we see a bow view of HMS Ravager, taken on 9 April 1943 in the Willamette River, Oregon. At this point the ship had not officially been completed (that didn't happen until 26 April). At this point she had the designation BACV-24, with BACV standing for British Aircraft Carrier, Escort, and the number coming from the standard US sequence for escort carriers - there was thus no CVE-24 in US service.

Many thanks to David Horne for sending us these pictures, which came from the collection of his father, Peter Horne, who served with the Fleet Air Arm from 1942 to 1946.
