This engraving shows Captain Sir P.V. Broke, the commander of HMS Shannon when she captured USS Chesapeake on 1 June 1813. This engraving must have been published between September 1813 when he was made a baronet and January 1815 when he became a Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath. The wounds he suffered in this battle ended his active military career, but he survived until 1841.
