Douglas Cowlishaw's Diary, August 1942

Here we see the diary pages for Douglas Cowlishaw from August 1942, when his squadron had reached Tunisia.

This was a crucial visit for Churchill, who decided to replace Auchinleck, at first with Harold Alexander and William Gott, but Gott was then killed in an air crash, and Churchill appointed General Bernard Montgomery.

Many thanks to Philip Cowlishaw for sending us these pictures, which came from the collection of his father Douglas Cowlishaw, who served with No.70 Squadron in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Italy.
