German POWs captured south of the River Odon
Here we see German POWs capturing during fighting south of the River Odon, which flows roughly north-east across the Normandy countryside towards Caen. The area was the site of heavy fighting during the battle of Normandy, most of which saw the British and Allies make limited progress, but pin German troops down in the east, helping the Americans advance in the west.
