Here we see the Active class scout cruiser HMS Active from the right, probably at Porstmouth as the photographer was based at nearby Southsea. We get a good view of the fabric sheets used to protect the bridge, wrinkled against the metal framework. Her right amidships gun can also be seen, pointing forward along the part of the hull that was angled inwards to let it fire forwards.
