Here we see the Beagle class destroyer HMS Racoon just after she had suffered damage from a near hit from a large shell during the operation to sweep the Dardanelles on 18 March 1915. Three Allied battleships were sunk in this battle, and the Racoon had entered the straits to take part in the rescue operation.
