HMS Sunfish and Ursula being handed to Soviets
Here we see the British S-class submarine HMS Sunfish (left) and U-class submarine HMS Ursula (right) being transferred to Soviet control in the summer of 1944, in place of Italian ships that had been promised to them. The Sunfish became the V-1 but was accidently sunk by a British aircraft on her voage to the Soviet Union, with the los of all onboard. The Ursula became V-4 Soviet Svanetia and entered active service, sinking a German sub-chaser in October 1944.
