Air Marshal Tedder signs German surrender, Berlin
Here we see Air Chief Marshal Arthur Tedder signing the final German surrender in Berlin on 8 May 1945 (actually very early on 9 May but backdated), acting as the representive of General Eisenhower. He was chosen because Eisenhower technically outranked Marshal Zhukov who Stalin wanted to preside over the surrender ceremony.
