ISS Iowa (BB-4) being sunk as gunnery target, 1923
Here we see the battleship USS Iowa (BB-4) being fired on by 14in guns during gunnery exercises in Panama Bay on 23 March 1923. By this point she was being used as a radio controlled target ship as Coastal Battleship No.4, and she sank as a result of the damage caused on this day. Note the mix of masts, with one updated cage mast and one of her original military masts. The forward funnel has already been knocked over by gunfire.
