No.598 Squadron was an anti-aircraft co-operation squadron that served in the north of Scotland from the end of 1943 until the spring of 1945. The squadron was formed at Peterhead on 1 December from Nos.1479 and 1632 Flights and a detachment from No.289 Squadron. The new squadron operated the Oxford, Lysander and Martinet, and gained some Hurricanes in February 1944.

The squadron's main base remained at Peterhead until March 1945, but it operated in detachments scattered across northern Scotland and on the Shetlands. Its role was to provide aircraft for gunnery and radar calibration tests, both for land based anti-aircraft batteries and for naval vessels in the big bases at Scapa Flow and the Firth of Forth.

The squadron was disbanded earlier than most anti-aircraft squadrons, which survived into 1946. No.598 was moved south from Scotland to East Anglia in March 1945 and disbanded on 30 April 1945.
