No.630 Squadron was part of Bomber Command and took part in the strategic bombing campaign from its formation late in 1943 until the end of the Second World War. The squadron was formed on 15 November 1943 around 'B' Flight, No.57 Squadron, and like most squadrons formed in this way was almost immediately operational.
From then until the end of the war the squadron took part in 202 raids, flying 2,453 sorties for the loss of 59 aircraft in combat and 11 in crashes (a loss rate of 2.4% in combat).
After the end of the war the squadron spent a short time serving as a transport unit before being disbanded on 18 July 1945.
