Battle during first Jacobite Revolt, between the main Jacobite army led by John Erskine, earl of Mar, and a smaller loyalist army under John Campbell, second earl of Argyll, fought near Dunblane. Argyll occupied the higher ground, and after indecisive fighting, Mar retreated, ending his active campaigning.
