Battle of Zorndorf, 25 August 1758 (Prussia, now Poland)

The bloodiest battle of the Seven Years War. A 40,000 strong Russian army besieging Kustrin (modern Kostrzyn), was attacked and defeated by a 25,000 strong Prussia army led by Frederick the Great, which after a day of fierce fighting forced the Russians to retreat. Both sides suffered over 10,000 casualties.
