HMS Octavia (1916)

HMS Octavia (1916) was a repeat M class destroyer that served with the Grand Fleet from late in 1917 to the end of the First World War.

The Octavia was ordered as part of the Third War Programme of late November 1914. She was laid down at Doxford, launched on 21 June 1916 and completed in November 1916.

1917

On 19 April 1917 the Octavia collided with the Victoria dock gates at Leith.

On 8 October 1917 the Octavia collided with the oiler Birchleaf off Aberdeen.

From December 1917 to February 1918 the Octavia was part of the 13th Destroyer Flotilla of the Grand Fleet.

On 11 December the Octavia and Oriana collided in Burntisland roads, in the Firth of Forth.

1918

From March to December 1918 the Octavia was part of the 14th Destroyer Flotilla of the Grand Fleet.

The 14th Flotilla took part in the surrender of the German High Seas Fleet on 21 November 1918.

On 6 February 1919 the Octavia and HFA Alexis collided at Sheerness.

In December 1919 she was in the charge of a Care and Maintenance Party on the Nore.

She was sold to be broken up in November 1921.
